Yes! Aah it’s actually the thing that makes me most interested in Xander because it’s ruthless and heartless and ~necessary, it’s what Giles might have done if he’d been around, it’s Xander being aware that Buffy would not fight with all she had if she knew she might be moments away from getting Angel back.

It’s not nice, it’s not happy, and it might even be a little spiteful- but I understand where he’s coming from and I don’t think Buffy would have survived that fight if she’d gone in only intending to delay, not kill.

My heart hurts for Buffy and how isolated she must have felt afterward, and I do hope that Xander spent most of his summer agonizing over it, but I don’t begrudge him the decision at all.
